Automation Applications Engineer

Job Description Job Description Job Description and Responsibilities Southern Controls is seeking a highly motivated Automation Applications Engineer to join our growing technical team. This position offers the opportunity to work with industry-leading automation technologies, solve complex customer challenges, and partner directly with manufacturers and end users across a wide range of industries including automotive, manufacturing, food & beverage, and material handling. Provide pre-sales application support including product demonstrations, system architecture recommendations, and bill-of-material development. Provide post-sales support including startup assistance, troubleshooting, and system optimization. In Office General phone/email and on-site product technical support. Product training for customers and co-workers. Work with Outside Sales staff to provide input for solving applications. Minimum Experience/Education Qualifications 3+ years of experience in the automation/controls industry Candidates should have excellent problem solving, troubleshooting and communication skills. Experience with: PLCs (Examples are Omron Sysmac, Rockwell ControlLogix & CompactLogix, or others) HMI & SCADA Platforms Motion Control & Robotics Industrial Networking Functional Safety Systems Machine Vision & Barcode Solutions Industrial Wireless & IIoT Technologies Variable Frequency Drives & Servo Systems Travel primarily consists of customer visits within the assigned territory. Most travel is day trips with occasional overnight travel required. Experience and skilled in troubleshooting and problem-solving control system and software issues. Willing and excited about learning and supporting new software and hardware products weekly.
