Quality Manager __ The work model for the role is: Onsite #LI-Onsite Your role and responsibilities: The Quality Engineer is responsible for leading and executing quality assurance activities across product, process, and manufacturing operations to drive a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence. This role ensures compliance with internal and external quality standards while improving key performance metrics such as First Pass Yield (FPY), Scrap, Warranty, Defect rates. The position supports quality activities across winding, assembly, and machining operations, partnering closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Supply Chain to resolve complex problems, reduce variation, and improve overall product quality and reliability. This role acts as a steward for quality management systems, processes, and tools within the local organizational unit, supporting the deployment of ABB's quality strategy and promoting a vision of zero defects and prevention-focused quality management. - Lead quality strategy and continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations by driving defect prevention, improving key quality metrics (FPY, DPPM, scrap, rework, warranty), and fostering a culture of operational excellence through Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
- Own and enhance the Quality Management System (QMS) by ensuring ISO compliance, supporting audits, managing APQP/PPAP activities, leading root cause and corrective action processes, and establishing robust quality controls, documentation, and standardized processes.
- Provide technical quality leadership through data-driven analysis, statistical methods, supplier quality management, cross-functional collaboration, and workforce training to improve product quality, process capability, customer satisfaction, and overall business performance.
- Drive quality and process improvements across winding, assembly, machining, and finishing operations by enhancing defect detection and test reliability, reducing process variation, standardizing work methods, and ensuring compliance with dimensional, surface finish, electrical performance, and product quality specifications.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with 2+ years of experience in quality, manufacturing, or operational excellence within a manufacturing environment - Required.
- Strong knowledge of core quality tools and methodologies, including 8D, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, and SPC
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles, with the ability to lead data-driven continuous improvement efforts
- Proficiency in statistical analysis and data trending (e.g., Minitab) and ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and test procedures
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001 or equivalent Quality Management Systems, including audit readiness and compliance practices
- Preferred Experience Includes: ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Six Sigma certification - Experience with winding, assembly and machining manufacturing processes - ISO auditor experience or QMS ownership - Project management experience or PMP certification
- Candidates must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
