High School Mathematics Teacher

The Academy of the Holy Names is an independent, Catholic, coeducational elementary school and a college preparatory high school for young women, sponsored by the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary. Employment Opportunity: The Academy of the Holy Names seeks a High School Mathematics teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. This is a full-time, exempt, 10‑month position beginning in August 2026. The teacher reports to the high school principal. Qualifications Bachelor's or master’s degree in education or a related field. Education background and high school teaching experience preferred. Florida Certificate required. Support the mission and goals of the Sisters of the Holy Names and the initiatives set forth by the AHN Board of Trustees. Position Responsibilities Maintain a classroom environment based on respect that reflects the values and mission of the Sisters of the Holy Names. Establish a culture of learning and a positive social interaction environment that actively engages students in learning and self‑motivation. Display confidence in teaching math to high school students (AP experience helpful but not required). Plan and develop effective lesson plans that cover the curriculum and address students’ interests and needs. Integrate technology into the curriculum. Accurately assess student learning through formative and summative assessments and adapt instruction based on these assessments. Keep accurate records, ensure that students are progressing, and monitor progress through progress reports and report cards. Perform supervision duties as assigned. Meet with students and parents to discuss any concerns or issues with student progress and learning. Participate in school‑based committees and collaborate with other teachers in the science department and other departments in the school. Attend and participate in ongoing professional development activities. Plan for a block schedule with lessons that demonstrate a variety of pedagogical approaches.
