Job Description

The Maintenance Technician on 1st shift plays a key role in keeping a busy CNC production machine shop running safely and efficiently. This position focuses on performing scheduled maintenance, diagnosing and repairing mechanical issues, and supporting the installation and setup of new equipment. You will work hands-on with CNC machinery, mechanical systems, and a variety of hand and power tools in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform monthly preventive maintenance on all production machines and mechanical units within the facility to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
• Diagnose, evaluate, and repair mechanical and electrical breakdowns on CNC machines and related equipment.
• Test and verify proper alignment, calibration, and functionality of equipment after maintenance or repair work.
• Assist in the setup, installation, and commissioning of new machines and equipment on the production floor.
• Use hand and power tools safely and effectively to complete maintenance and repair tasks.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and basic CNC control issues to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used to support accurate maintenance records.
• Work collaboratively with production staff to schedule maintenance and minimize disruption to operations.
• Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while working around machinery and in the shop environment.
• Support general facility maintenance tasks as needed to keep the shop operating smoothly.

Essential Skills

• Hands-on maintenance experience with production machinery or mechanical equipment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose and repair mechanical issues.
• Knowledge of CNC controls and CNC machine operation sufficient to support maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Ability to use a wide range of hand and power tools safely and effectively.
• Experience in maintenance, mechanical repair, or related roles, such as farm or industrial mechanic work.
• Ability to troubleshoot equipment problems methodically and resolve issues in a timely manner.
• Capability to lift up to 40 pounds on occasion as required by maintenance tasks.
• Comfort working in an active, high-production shop environment.

Work Environment

This role is based in a full-service CNC production machine shop that operates multiple shifts. The 1st shift runs from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Overtime is frequently available, and some team members choose to work 50 or more hours of overtime, although overtime is not mandatory. The shop is well lit, climate controlled and actively busy, with work orders already scheduled through 2028, providing a steady workflow and long-term stability. The environment is a working machine shop that can be on the dirtier side due to machining operations, so employees should be comfortable in an industrial setting and dress appropriately for hands-on mechanical and maintenance work.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $84000.00/yr.
