Role Purpose

Corning is seeking a Manufacturing Shift Technician to support cleaning and packaging manufacturing processes at our Hemlock, MI facility. This is a hands-on manufacturing support role responsible for keeping the cleaning and packaging operation running safely, efficiently, and within quality standards. The position serves as the technical bridge between production, engineering, maintenance, and quality teams on shift. This person will troubleshoot equipment issues, monitor process performance, analyze downtime, drive continuous improvement projects, and support operators and supervisors to maximize production output and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE). The Shift Technician will play a key role in driving operational excellence, improving process control, and supporting manufacturing performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as a technical resource for operators, team leaders, maintenance, engineering, and quality teams to resolve manufacturing issues.
• Monitor process performance and identify opportunities to improve throughput, quality, reliability, and efficiency.
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and PLC-controlled manufacturing equipment.
• Track, analyze, and report shift performance metrics, including OEE, downtime, production performance, and process effectiveness.
• Investigate and resolve chronic manufacturing issues through process monitoring, root cause analysis, and implementation of sustainable corrective actions.
• Support and lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on cost reduction, maintenance optimization, process control, and capacity improvements.
• Participate in safety investigations, promote 5S and housekeeping standards, and support a strong safety culture.
• Contribute to pre-run and post-run reviews with operations and engineering teams to improve process performance and execution.
• Work Hours Ability to work a 2-3-2 rotating schedule, transitioning from days to nights and from nights to days every two weeks. Willingness to work flexible hours to meet business needs, including weekend and evening support, as well as occasional coverage for 12-hour rotating shift supervisor assignments.

Required Qualifications

• 2+ years of manufacturing experience supporting and troubleshooting process equipment.
• Experience troubleshooting electrical systems, including low- and medium-voltage systems, PLCs, temperature controls, and safety systems.
• Experience troubleshooting mechanical systems, including pneumatic controls, flow control systems, and material handling equipment.
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills with the ability to use data to identify issues and drive improvements.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills in a team-based manufacturing environment.

Desired Qualifications

• Associate's or 2-year technical degree in Electrical Technology, Mechatronics, Industrial Technology, or a related field.
• Experience supporting automated manufacturing equipment in a high-volume production environment.
• Advanced knowledge of induction furnace heating systems and troubleshooting.
• Advanced knowledge of PLC control systems, including Allen-Bradley, Beckhoff, Siemens, or similar platforms.
• Proficiency with data collection and analysis tools and a systematic, data-driven approach to problem solving.

This position does not support immigration sponsorship. The range for this position is $58,934.00 - $81,034.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
