Revenue Recognition Accountant

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Revenue Recognition Accountant based in United States.

This role supports revenue accounting activities with a strong focus on ASC 606 compliance, revenue recognition, reconciliations, and month-end close.
You will review customer contracts, assess revenue recognition treatments, and maintain accurate schedules and supporting documentation.
The position offers an opportunity to work across Finance, Billing, Sales, Operations, and other teams to resolve complex revenue and billing questions.
You will contribute to audit support, process improvements, internal controls, reporting, and ERP implementation initiatives.
The role is well suited to an early-career accounting professional with practical revenue recognition experience who wants to deepen their expertise.
You will work with non-standard and complex contracts in a technology, SaaS, software, subscription, or recurring-revenue environment.
This is a remote opportunity requiring strong analytical skills, attention to detail, independent execution, and availability during the U.S. Eastern Time zone

Accountabilities:

• Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end accounting close activities.
• Perform revenue recognition activities in accordance with ASC 606 and U.S. GAAP.
• Review customer contracts and related documentation to determine appropriate revenue recognition treatment.
• Prepare and maintain revenue schedules and account reconciliations, including deferred revenue and recognized revenue.
• Create complete and accurate documentation supporting revenue recognition conclusions and journal entries.
• Research and resolve discrepancies between customer contracts, billing information, and related accounting records.
• Assist with contract modifications and other changes that may affect revenue recognition.
• Prepare schedules, documentation, and other materials requested for internal and external audits.
• Collaborate with Finance, Billing, Sales, Operations, and other cross-functional teams to resolve revenue and billing-related questions.
• Contribute to improvements in revenue accounting processes, controls, reporting, and documentation.
• Perform additional accounting analysis, financial analysis, and ad-hoc projects as needed.
• Support ERP implementation activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA eligibility.
• 1–3 years of professional accounting experience.
• Hands-on knowledge and practical experience with ASC 606 revenue recognition.
• Experience working with non-standard and complex customer contracts.
• Understanding of U.S. GAAP and fundamental accounting principles.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including lookups and pivot tables.
• Strong analytical, reconciliation, data analysis, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and balance competing priorities in a remote environment.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Continuous improvement mindset and willingness to learn.
• Availability to work within the U.S. Eastern Time zone.
• Public accounting experience is a plus.
• Experience in technology, SaaS, software, cloud, subscription-based, or recurring-revenue industries is preferred.
• Experience with deferred revenue, contract assets, unbilled revenue, or recurring revenue models is beneficial.
• Experience reviewing customer contracts for accounting implications is a plus.
• Familiarity with Oracle Fusion, SAP, or another major ERP system is beneficial.
• Salesforce or other CRM experience is a plus.
• Experience supporting financial statement audits is preferred.

Benefits

• Annual base salary range of $75,000–$90,000 .
