Site Process Safety Deployment Leader

Position Overview Ascend Performance Materials is a global leader in high‑performance chemicals, fibers and plastics. The Site Process Safety Leader will lead process safety program deployment within the site through partnership with the ESSH and manufacturing teams, ensuring scenarios are identified and controls are effective to prevent or mitigate them. Targeted Outcomes Implement measurement and metrics programs that include site leader engagement. Drive improved understanding and management of process safety risk. Initiate process safety competency development for PSM program owners. Key Responsibilities Lead process safety program deployment into operating units, building knowledge to achieve effective and sustainable performance. Hold the site accountable for PSM and drive PSM behavior. In partnership with site leadership, ensure appropriate prioritization and timely completion of action items. Develop and implement strategies to reduce the site risk profile using a risk‑based approach. Coordinate process safety training at the site. Lead deployment of new regulatory or company requirements. Ensure compliance with OSHA PSM and EPA RMP rules. Participate in process safety audits and investigations. Collaborate with front‑line operations and maintenance to improve scenario identification and controls. Maintain process safety scorecard and measurement programs. Provide input on new or improved process safety programs as a core team member. Partner with operations and reliability on real‑time risk understanding. Facilitate Process Hazard Analysis and Layers of Protection Analysis as needed. Team Reports to: Sr. PSM Manager Team Members: CHB PHA Facilitator and CHB ESSH Leader Required Skills and Experience Bachelor of Science in engineering (chemical or mechanical preferred). 5+ years of experience in a risk‑based process safety approach. Leadership skillset with strong communication skills and some formal team leadership experience. Detail‑oriented with high engineering curiosity, technical competency and humility. Ability to read and understand Process and Instrument Diagrams. Proven ability to achieve results through others. Excellent written and oral communication, organizational and planning, facilitation and computer skills. Flexible, analytical and detail‑oriented. Desired Knowledge PSM program deployment and development. Leadership of incident investigation teams. Facilitation of Process Hazard Analysis and Layers of Protection Analysis. Experience in an operations/production role to complement the PSM role.
