As a member of Centuri’s Office of the General Counsel, you will support all business units and subsidiaries by providing leadership and direction that will mitigate the Company’s exposure in the context of legal issues and compliance requirements. This position may be based in Phoenix, AZ; Houston, TX; or Cherry Hill, NJ. What You'll Do Draft, redline, and negotiate contracts of varying complexity, including EPC agreements, MSAs, subcontracts, professional services agreements, supply agreements, NDAs, and other customer and vendor contracts Analyze and negotiate the provisions that drive the Company's risk exposure — indemnity, limitation of liability, consequential damages waivers, warranty, notice and claims procedures, termination, and dispute resolution Review prime contract terms and structure flow-down obligations to subcontractors and suppliers Partner with Risk Management and HSE to confirm that insurance, bonding, and indemnity provisions align Review and analyze contracts and other legal documents for compliance with Company policies and applicable law, including public and utility contracting requirements such as prevailing wage and DBE/MBE participation Maintain, update, and expand the Company's portfolio of internal contract templates and playbooks Provide practical legal advice to business stakeholders on contractual matters, risk allocation, and compliance Train non-legal personnel to identify contractual risk before signature Support due diligence on acquisitions as well as on new customers and opportunities Perform legal research into issues arising in the jurisdictions where the Company operates Collaborate cross-functionally to improve contracting policies, procedures, and workflows Stay current on laws, regulations, and industry developments affecting the Company's operations Other responsibilities as requested by leadership What You'll Have Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school Active license and good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, eligibility to register or be admitted as in-house counsel in the state of the assigned office 6+ years of practice in a law firm or in-house legal department One of the following: Complex contract review, analysis, drafting, and negotiation experience; or Litigation experience, including construction and/or engineering claims, handling matters from intake through resolution Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage a high volume of matters independently Detail-oriented, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively Preferred Construction, infrastructure, energy, or utility industry experience under either path described above Comfort adopting technology, including AI-assisted tools, in contract review and negotiation workflows What You'll Get Benefit Package including Medical, Dental and Vision Coverage 401K w/ Company Match Voluntary Life & AD&D Insurance and Short-Term and Long-Term Disability Vacation/Sick Time and Paid Holidays Employee Discounts Weekly Payroll Work is performed in a typical indoor office environment Flexibility to work various schedules and stay late when necessary with little or no notice Must be able to read documents, use a computer, communicate verbally and in writing Mobility required within an office, warehouse and construction site environments Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds Legal Stuff Pass pre-employment, random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion drug screens Satisfactory results of pre-employment background check results Valid driver’s license with clean driving record Our Commitment to Opportunity This job description is subject to change at any time.
