Patient Service Representative

Overview

We are seeking a P atient Service Representative , internally referred to as Patient Access Representative or Patient Registration Clerk, at our PMG – Westglen GI. As a Patient Service Rep, you interview the patient or his/her representative to obtain identifying and basic demographics to prep for upcoming visits.

Shift Available : Days 

Employment Type : Full Time

Hours : 8-hour shifts, 8:00am – 4:30pm

Location : PMG – Westglen GI, Shawnee, KS

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to): 

• Interviews the patient or his/her representative to obtain identifying and basic demographics to prep for upcoming visits
• Schedules patients in their clinic and assists with scheduling them in others
• Verifies insurance coverage, collects co-pays and prior balances from patients, reconciles and prepares deposits, and troubleshoots billing issues
• Greets and checks in patients andles all incoming phone calls and routes to appropriate staff or initiates messages
• Coordinates clinic business processes such as supply ordering, sales calls, record release, fax and mail processing
• Must be able to: (1) operate a computer to accurately input and retrieve data; (2) communicate with the population served, staff, and providers utilizing age specific techniques; (3) maintain proficiency in medical terminology; (4) project a positive and helpful attitude.

Qualifications

Education and Work Experience

Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have:  

• High school graduate or GED equivalent
• Maintain proficiency in medical terminology

Additional Qualifications That Are a Plus: 

• Previous medical setting/hospital experience
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Customer service experience
