You will have access to the structure, the RF chain, and the flight test data in the same building. Every link the aircraft depends on terminates at an aperture you designed. Position Overview Powerus is seeking an Antenna Engineer to design and integrate the antennas carried on our unmanned platforms, including command and control, datalink, GNSS, and payload apertures. You will model antennas installed on the airframe, validate them in the chamber and on the range, and resolve the co-site and structural constraints that come with a small conductive platform. Key Responsibilities Design antennas for airborne platforms, including patch, monopole, blade, conformal, and array elements Perform full-wave electromagnetic simulation of antennas installed on the airframe, accounting for ground plane, structure, and adjacent apertures Analyze and mitigate co-site interference between transmit and receive apertures on the same airframe Measure antenna performance in an anechoic chamber and on an antenna range, including pattern, gain, efficiency, VSWR, axial ratio, and polarization Perform radome and structural integration trade studies with mechanical and composites engineers Correlate measured performance against simulation and update models accordingly Support flight test and analyze in-flight link anomalies Qualifications Must be located in the United States, within commuting distance of Charlotte, NC Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field Two or more years of antenna design experience, including full-wave electromagnetic simulation and hardware validation Working knowledge of radiation patterns, impedance matching, polarization, and near-field and far-field behavior Antenna measurement experience in a chamber, on a range, or both U.S. Person status required (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)); this role involves access to ITAR- and EAR-controlled technical data Preferred Qualifications Antenna integration experience on aircraft, unmanned systems, or other conductive platforms GNSS antenna design experience, including anti-jam or controlled-reception-pattern arrays Phased array or beamforming experience Radome material and structural trade study experience Active or prior U.S. security clearance What We Look For We are looking for an engineer who treats simulation as a hypothesis and the chamber as the test. You should be comfortable working within someone else's structural constraints, and clear about the difference between a model that closes and hardware that works.
