DevOps / Site Reliability Engineer (SRE)

Position Overview

Site Reliability Engineers (SREs) combine software and systems engineering expertise to build and operate the systems that power the firm’s investment strategies. They ensure systems perform reliably and efficiently at the speed and scale required by fast-moving financial markets.

SREs work to reduce complexity, improve performance, support applications during development, and ensure applications operate smoothly in production.

The team works across production engineering, software quality metrics, chaos engineering, networking, UNIX internals, cloud application architecture, and related technologies. Responsibilities include automation, instrumentation, optimization, incident response, and providing technical guidance to other engineering teams.

SREs also partner closely with investment teams and enterprise functions to understand how applications operate and promote reliability and resilience from the earliest stages of application development.

Key Responsibilities

• Understand end-to-end application workflows and their business impact.
• Ensure the reliability, availability, and performance of applications in production.
• Automate repetitive tasks and resolve recurring operational issues.
• Identify opportunities to improve system operations and solve complex technical challenges.
• Develop new engineering solutions based on root cause analysis.
• Own incident management and drive both immediate fixes and long-term solutions.
• Promote Site Reliability Engineering practices across engineering teams.
• Collaborate with engineers, investment professionals, and business teams to develop reliable, high-performance systems.
• Continuously identify opportunities for innovation, automation, and operational improvement.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related STEM discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Strong fundamentals in computer science, data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems.
• Proficiency in at least one modern structured programming language; Python is preferred.
• Familiarity with software development tools and practices, including testing, source control, build systems, and CI/CD.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to adapt to changing requirements and technologies.
• Entrepreneurial mindset and a passion for learning, automation, and developing innovative solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with SQL and databases.
• Web UI development experience using JavaScript, CSS, or React.
• Exposure to production engineering, systems reliability, monitoring, incident response, or performance optimization.
• Experience with Linux/UNIX systems, networking, cloud application architecture, or automation.
• Ability to work effectively with demanding front-office and middle-office stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
