Nursing Technician

The Nursing Technician performs basic nursing care and procedures under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse.

Qualifications

*Currently enrolled in a practical nursing program or a student currently enrolled in a professional nursing program, or previous experience working with patients, or one quarter of clinical experience as a student nurse, or successful completion of a nurse aide course, or experience from a related health care field preferred

*NOTE: BLS within 30 days

Area of Responsibilities

*Maintains required knowledge training and functions within scope of practice. (1) Performs basic patient care attending to physical and emotional needs of the patient in a family oriented environment. (3) Effectively understands and operates basic equipment used routinely on the unit (EKG, VSM, Accucheck, etc.) (4) Demonstrates the ability to work safely and responsibly under general supervision. (5) Demonstrates behaviors necessary for age-specific care and knowledge of decision making process for all ages of population(s) served. (6) Complies with standards set forth by The Joint Commission and other regulatory agencies. (7) Participates in Quality Improvement and other process(s) as requested.
