The Instrumentation Technician II will install test equipment in development vehicles such as thermocouples, transducers, sensors, fiber optics, and accelerometers. The role will build, modify, adjust and calibrate installed devices, as well as build and install low voltage wire harnesses to drawings and schematics. The Instrumentation Technician II will be mentored and supported by team members on project work and customer interactions. Responsibilities Building and installing low voltage automotive and instrumentation wiring harnesses, auxiliary battery and electrical systems Installing, adjusting and calibrating sensors, shunts, fiber optics, accelerometers and data acquisition systems Collaborating with customers, fabricators, and mechanics to identify required locations for sensor installation according to Instrumentation Requirement List (IRL) Assisting in performing complete functional inspection and prove-out of instrumentation according to Instrumentation Quality Assurance (IQA) Diagnosing faulty low voltage automotive and instrumentation wiring systems and repair Working with electronic functional and measurement tools, such as power supplies, function generators, and multimeter Maintaining records by entering notes into service repair requests Keeping shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, performing preventive maintenance, calling for repairs Participating in daily shop organization and clean-up Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Minimum of 4 years of experience as an Instrumentation Technician Experience performing soldering, crimping, tube bending, component layout and packaging on vehicles or subsystems Able to follow procedures or work instructions provided for assigned projects, such as work requests, shop procedures and shop manuals, publications or schematic diagrams Good organizational skills and works well independently and as part of a team Good communication and time management skills Able to work overtime and weekends Good attention to detail Additional Qualifications Certificate in Automotive Technology or related Knowledge of proper installation of thermocouples and pressure transducers Ability to work overtime as needed including weekends.
