SENIOR ELECTRICAL ENGINEER — FLORIDA PE

POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Electrical Engineer will provide advanced electrical engineering design, technical leadership, project coordination, and professional engineering oversight for residential, commercial, stadium, high-rise, and other complex building projects.

The ideal candidate will have significant MEP engineering experience, strong expertise in Revit and CAD, a consistent professional history, and an active Florida Professional Engineer (PE) license .

This position will take a leadership role in developing and reviewing electrical engineering designs, coordinating multidisciplinary projects, mentoring engineering staff, and providing professional engineering services, including stamping electrical engineering plans where applicable.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the design and development of electrical systems for residential, commercial, stadium, high-rise, and other complex building projects.
  • Develop, review, and approve electrical engineering drawings, plans, specifications, calculations, schedules, and technical documentation.
  • Use Revit and CAD to develop, coordinate, review, and manage electrical engineering designs.
  • Provide technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle, from conceptual design through construction and completion.
  • Review electrical designs for technical accuracy, code compliance, constructability, coordination, and adherence to project requirements.
  • Coordinate electrical engineering work with architects, contractors, structural engineers, mechanical engineers, plumbing engineers, and other project disciplines.
  • Participate in design meetings, coordination meetings, client discussions, and construction-related technical reviews.
  • Provide technical solutions to complex engineering and design issues.
  • Review and respond to RFIs, field conditions, design changes, and construction-related engineering questions.
  • Perform and review electrical calculations, load calculations, equipment selections, and other engineering analyses.
  • Provide professional engineering oversight and stamp/sign electrical engineering plans and documents where applicable and within the scope of the engineer's Florida PE license.
  • Ensure engineering work complies with applicable codes, standards, regulations, and project requirements.
  • Mentor, train, and provide technical guidance to junior and mid-level engineering staff.
  • Review the work of other engineers and provide constructive technical feedback.
  • Support project managers in maintaining project schedules, budgets, deliverables, and client expectations.
  • Assist with client relationships and contribute technical expertise during project development and delivery.
  • Support continuous improvement of engineering standards, design practices, and project processes.
  • Perform other senior-level engineering responsibilities as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Senior-level experience in electrical engineering within an MEP engineering environment.
  • Active Florida Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
  • Significant experience designing electrical systems for commercial and/or complex building projects.
  • Previous experience working for an MEP engineering firm is required.
  • Strong proficiency with Revit and CAD.
  • Demonstrated experience with electrical design and engineering for building projects.
  • Ability to independently interpret architectural drawings, engineering specifications, applicable codes, and project requirements.
  • Strong multidisciplinary coordination and project leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to review and approve engineering work and technical documentation.
  • Stable employment history with demonstrated career consistency and professional growth.
  • Strong leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • H-1B transfer candidates will not be considered.
  • Ability and willingness to work on-site in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Extensive experience with high-rise electrical engineering and design.
  • Experience with large-scale commercial, residential, stadium, or mixed-use developments.
  • Previous experience working with another MEP engineering firm in the South Florida market.
  • Experience with mid-rise projects in addition to high-rise projects.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable electrical codes, standards, and permitting requirements.
  • Experience providing professional engineering services and stamping electrical plans.
  • Experience mentoring and supervising junior and mid-level engineering staff.
  • Experience coordinating complex multidisciplinary projects from design through construction.

PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERING RESPONSIBILITY

The Senior Electrical Engineer will be expected to provide professional engineering oversight within the scope permitted by their active Florida PE license.

Where applicable, the engineer will review, approve, sign, and stamp electrical engineering plans and related documents in accordance with Florida requirements, applicable professional standards, and project needs.

WORK LOCATION

Fort Lauderdale, Florida — On-Site

Local candidates are strongly preferred, particularly candidates currently employed by another MEP engineering firm in the South Florida area.

Candidates relocating to Fort Lauderdale or the surrounding area may be considered if they are committed to relocation.

Candidates located several hours away within Florida are less preferred unless they are prepared to relocate and work on-site in the Fort Lauderdale area.

COMPENSATION

Significantly above $100,000 , with compensation determined based on professional experience, Florida PE licensing, technical expertise, project portfolio, leadership experience, and overall qualifications.

Decision-Making: Independently evaluates technical challenges and develops practical, code-compliant engineering solutions.

Client & Project Focus: Communicates effectively with clients and project stakeholders while maintaining quality, schedule, and technical standards.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This is an on-site senior engineering position based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The role may require regular coordination with project teams and occasional visits to construction sites, project locations, and client facilities.
