Description

The Recreation Therapist evaluates patients across the lifespan and collaborates with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members to establish goals and develop and implement individualized therapeutic programs. This hands-on role provides direct patient care and supports recovery, independence, and community reintegration.

Responsibilities:

• Complete patient evaluations and develop individualized treatment goals and interventions.
• Provide individual and group therapeutic recreation sessions based on patient treatment plans.
• Facilitate community reintegration outings, including 1:1 and group activities, in accordance with policies and procedures.
• Facilitate cooking and other therapeutic activities as appropriate.
• Coordinate with community resources to support continuity of care and successful discharge.
• Educate patients and families and provide appropriate resources for continued progress after discharge.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with patient rights, safety, infection control, regulatory, ethical, and legal requirements.
• Maintain a safe, clean environment and promptly report hazards.
• Complete required in-services and maintain professional standards for attendance, conduct, appearance, and customer service.
• Demonstrate courtesy, compassion, and respect while promoting the organization's mission, vision, and values.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy from an accredited university.
• National certification as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) through NCTRC.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification.
• 12 years of experience working with individuals with physical disabilities or in a rehabilitation setting preferred.
