Senior R&D Engineer

Compensation Range: $102,000.00 – $120,000.00FLSA Classification: Exempt Position Summary The Senior R&D Engineer is responsible for leading advanced research initiatives, product development efforts, and complex engineering investigations that support innovation and long-term technology strategy. This role applies deep technical expertise in simulation, experimental design, and structured problem-solving to evaluate concepts, resolve critical engineering challenges, and enhance product performance. This position collaborates cross-functionally with Engineering, Product Management, Project Management, Manufacturing, and Sales to ensure alignment between technical solutions, customer requirements, and business objectives. As a senior technical contributor, the role also provides mentorship, strengthens R&D capabilities, and promotes analytical rigor across the organization. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Lead major research initiatives, prototype development, and new product development projects. Perform advanced mechanical analysis, including FEA and CFD simulations. Conduct and guide structured root cause investigations using methodologies such as 8D and DMAIC. Develop and execute experimental plans, including Design of Experiments (DOE), and analyze performance data. Support prototype build, testing, instrumentation, and data collection activities. Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Product, Project Management, and Manufacturing teams to align technical outcomes with business needs. Develop validation plans and ensure thorough testing of designs and concepts. Perform CAD modeling, drawing updates, and engineering documentation. Conduct engineering calculations, feasibility studies, and design evaluations. Document, present, and communicate technical findings to stakeholders. Mentor junior engineers and interns, fostering technical development and best practices. Maintain laboratory equipment and support experimental setup and troubleshooting. Ensure compliance with safety standards and ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 requirements. Adhere to company policies, including code of conduct and attendance expectations. Perform other duties as assigned. Education Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (required) Master’s Degree (preferred) Minimum Experience 5–7+ years of experience in R&D, product development, or advanced engineering analysis Certifications (Preferred) Professional Engineer (PE) license Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification, or ability to obtain within 12 months Core Competencies Advanced simulation and analytical modeling Experimental design and statistical analysis Root cause analysis and structured problem-solving Technical leadership and mentoring Cross-functional collaboration and communication
