Job Description
This role is ideal for someone with mechanical aptitude and basic maintenance experience who wants to grow into an independent maintenance operator on second shift. You will start at an assistant level, supporting machine and facility maintenance, and have the opportunity to expand your skills through extensive training and cross-training in production and CNC operations.
Responsibilities

• Perform basic maintenance tasks at an assistant level with the goal of progressing to an independent Maintenance Operator on second shift.
• Check oil levels and maintain appropriate fluid levels, including lubricants and coolants, for manufacturing and CNC equipment.
• Adjust spindles and assist with machine maintenance, setup, and general troubleshooting.
• Support preventative maintenance activities on manufacturing equipment and CNC machinery to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
• Read and interpret machine schematics to support troubleshooting and maintenance work.
• Use basic PC skills, including Outlook and general computer programs, to document maintenance activities and communicate with the team.
• Assist with general facility maintenance and building upkeep, which may include basic facilities and building maintenance tasks.
• Support general shop upkeep to maintain a clean, safe, and organized machine shop environment.
• Work comfortably around manufacturing equipment while performing routine inspections and preventative maintenance tasks.
• Lift and carry up to 50 lbs as needed to support maintenance and facility tasks.
• Remain open to cross-training in production during slower periods, including assisting CNC operators, deburring parts, and polishing components.
• Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to ensure equipment readiness and smooth manufacturing operations.

Essential Skills

• 13 years of maintenance technician experience or a maintenance-related certificate from a school or technical program.
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and hands-on mechanical experience.
• Basic maintenance experience in a manufacturing or facilities environment.
• Ability to read and interpret machine schematics.
• Comfort working around manufacturing equipment and CNC machinery.
• Basic PC skills, including proficiency with Outlook and general computer usage.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Willingness to cross-train in production tasks such as assisting CNC operators, deburring, and polishing.
• Comfort performing preventative maintenance and basic troubleshooting on machinery.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with facilities maintenance and general building maintenance.
• Exposure to mechanical systems and hydraulics.
• Experience with drywall or basic building repair tasks.
• Experience with deburring and polishing operations.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for mechanical and equipment issues.
• Interest in learning CNC operating and expanding technical skills.

Work Environment
You will work in a machine shop environment that operates a variety of manufacturing and CNC equipment. The regular shift runs from 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., with flexibility for an 11:00 a.m. or 12:00 p.m. start time as needed. The training schedule is 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for approximately 46 months, depending on experience and progression. The role involves regular interaction with machinery, tools, and computer systems, and requires comfort working in an industrial setting where safety, cleanliness, and general shop upkeep are important.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lake Forest, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $26.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
