Plasma Center EMT

About the role: Every day, the donors you meet will motivate you. The high-quality plasma you collect will become life-changing medicines. Here, a commitment to customer service and quality is expected. You will determine donor eligibility to donate plasma, manage donor adverse events, review laboratory test results, and notify donors of unsuitable test results. The Medical Support Specialist works under the guidance of the Center Manager (or Assistant Manager as applicable) and under the management of the Center Physician for medical issues. Familiarity with the regulations of the plasma collection industry or a manufacturing environment is required, and you will follow guidance provided by BioLife Medical Affairs and provide center-level support of environmental, health, and safety (EHS). How you will contribute: Determine donor eligibility; manage informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview, acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and review of serological protein electrophoresis (SPE). Evaluate donor reactions, following SOPs for medical emergencies and developing the Center Physician’s standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities. Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings and medical or technical guidance concerning donor safety and eligibility. Support the Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees. Manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER, referencing EHS guidance. Serve as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations associated with pandemic threats in the local community. What you bring to Takeda: High school diploma or equivalent, including graduate-level nursing program with state requirements. Licensed or certified EMT-Paramedic in the state of assignment. Current CPR and AED certification. Fulfillment of state requirements for basic IV therapy. Completion of FDA‑approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist. At least two years in a clinical or hospital setting.
