About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 18 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum years of experience required License: VA license pending accepted Certifications: BLS, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate Must-Have: - Previous charge experience (2 years preferred) - Patient ratio experience - Charting experience with Epic Description: Cross-posting for the Labor and Delivery unit. This position offers an assignment through January 2, 2027. Candidates will work every other weekend and must be available for 2 out of 3 winter holidays. The expected weekly hours are 36. Candidates must possess BLS, NRP, and intermediate fetal monitoring certification, along with AWHONN intermediate certification. Training will include cross-training to Mother/Baby and potential floating to NICU (feeders/growers). All RN travelers will have one 12-hour shift for orientation. Average annual deliveries in the unit are approximately 2,000. The facility has 8 private labor rooms, 4 private triage beds, and 2 operating rooms. The typical patient population includes both low and high-risk obstetric patients. Unit provides interdisciplinary support including various specialist teams. Patients include those with high-risk conditions such as gestational diabetes, preeclampsia, and maternal comorbidities. Standard procedures include cesarean sections, cerclage, and triage. All RNs will adhere to established protocols for patient care and safety. Routine care for stable feeder and grower infants will be provided by traveling RN staff. Recognition of changes in infant condition is essential, along with prompt communication of concerns. Travelers may float as needed within their scope of practice.
