Duties

Help

• Serve as a therapeutic consultant to physicians on evaluation and implementation of optimal medication plans for inpatients and outpatients.
• Develop, order, and adjust individualized medication regimens per protocol or consent of physicians.
• Administer medications according to provider guidance and pre-established protocols.
• Counsel patients on the use, proper method of administration of medications, side effects, precautions and other general information.
• Provide lectures for continuing education to pharmacy, nursing and medical staff on a variety of subjects including general pharmaceutical information and complex topics such as pharmacokinetics, therapeutics and pharmacology.
• Perform medication distribution functions to include the filling, checking, counseling, and dispensing of outpatient prescriptions.

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing
• This position requires Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross. Current Advanced Life Support or other advanced certification does not supersede BLS completion.
• This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
• This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
• This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
• Applicants must be licensed to practice pharmacy in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
• A doctoral degree in Pharmacy that is recognized by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
• Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
• This position has a requirement to lift up to 15 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
• This position may require uncommon tours of duty hours such as, on-call, working either fixed or rotating shifts, nights, evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
• This position requires Tuberculosis testing.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Basic Requirement for Pharmacist:

Education : A doctoral degree in Pharmacy that is recognized by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)Exemption: You are exempt from the basic requirement above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0660 occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupational series since September 27, 2017 or before. Note: You will be required to provide appropriate documentation to the respective Human Resources Office to validate your status.

Licensure : A current, active, valid, and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in a State, a territory of the United States, or the District of Columbia. (Note: You must attach a copy of your license.)

Medical Requirement : Must be able to distinguish basic colors.

Experience : One year of professional pharmacy experience specific to inpatient clinical functions that includes preparing medications, providing patient counseling, and monitoring the dispensing of pharmaceuticals.

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience aloneno substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Completion of PGY1 residency, and/or Clinical Pharmacist experience, and/or Clinical Pharmacy experience related to Anticoagulation, ED, MedSurge, Primary Care or ICU is highly desired/preferred.
