Senior Project Superintendent - Data Center (Traveling)

The Weitz Company is looking for an experienced Project Superintendent to be located in our Iowa Business Unit at a large hyperscale Data Center Project in Cedar Rapids, IA. The Senior Project Superintendent is responsible for the profitable field operations on complex, large projects after demonstrating a successful track record with smaller projects. The role includes establishing a safety culture at the jobsite and working closely with the Project Manager to manage schedule, budget, and staff to achieve profitable outcomes. The Superintendent will also create and maintain effective client, vendor, supplier, and subcontractor relationships. This position typically reports to the most senior Project Manager on the job. What You’ll Do Act as the primary leader of subcontractors and field forces on a job site Maintain project safety in accordance with the Company’s Safety Policy Develop and update the project schedule, resource allocation, and work processes Prepare two‑week look‑ahead schedules Oversee daily construction activities ensuring work meets quality standards, project timelines, and budgets Coordinate with subcontractors, manage their performance, and ensure they adhere to contract requirements and safety protocols Conduct regular site inspections, identify and address quality issues, and ensure work meets project specifications Identify and resolve issues promptly and effectively to maintain project momentum and schedule Update project schedules utilizing computerized scheduling software Assist with the buyout and selection of major subcontractors Oversee all aspects of project execution, including construction schedules, budgets, and quality control Supervise and coordinate all field personnel, subcontractors, and construction activities Implement and enforce strict safety protocols to ensure a safe work environment for all employees and subcontractors Maintain strong communication with project managers, clients, and other stakeholders Coordinate the work of the subcontractors’ field forces Communicate effectively both externally with owners, designers, and engineers as well as internally with the project team Maintain accurate cost reports Ensure all required paperwork is completed, accurate, and timely Adhere to all company policies, standards, and procedures Provide opportunities to help the team develop, learn, and grow Foster positive relationships with both internal and external parties What We’re Looking For Experience: 8+ years of Project Superintendent experience required Commercial construction experience working for a general contractor (GC) is required Experience leading, developing, and mentoring a team Experience in Data Center Construction is strongly preferred Skills: Ability to read/interpret construction documents Knowledge of construction methods and materials Excellent project organizational skills Impressive leadership skills with the desire to teach, mentor, and develop a team Business acumen and relationship building skills Excellent verbal and written communication across all levels of the organization Technology: Proficient in basic computer software including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook Ability to learn specific job‑related software upon hire What We Offer Competitive Pay Rewarding Bonus Program Comprehensive Benefits Package with Tax‑Advantaged HSA and FSA offerings Employer‑Paid Short‑ and Long‑Term Disability Programs Employer‑Paid Life Insurance Generous Paid Time Off Provisions 401K Retirement Savings Plan with Company Match Tuition Reimbursement Fully Paid Parental Leave Voluntary Products Including: Critical Illness Insurance and Accident Insurance Corporate Wellness Program with Wellness Time Off and Rewards Visa sponsorship is not available for this position at this time.
