PT Healthcare Tutor

Location and Travel Part‑time tutors are located at either Crown Point and/or Gary sites. Candidates must be willing and able to travel to all Lake County campus sites – Crown Point, Gary, and East Chicago – as needed. Responsibilities Provide tutoring assistance to students in a one‑on‑one, small‑group, drop‑in, or classroom format, including virtual tutoring with Zoom as needed. Explain concepts and ask questions that encourage students to think and work independently. Aid students preparing for entrance or placement exams such as Knowledge Assessment and TEAS. Keep records of tutoring sessions using tutor software TracCloud and schedule appointments. Report directly to the Director of the Learning Resource Center regarding needs, concerns, and daily operations. Collaborate with the supervisor to provide staff coverage schedules and make them available to students. Promote the tutoring program on campus to faculty. Maintain organization and cleanliness within the tutoring centers. Guide students in developing positive study habits and study skills. Develop a good understanding of college services and other campus resources to support academic success. Participate in professional development training as relevant. Assist in planning and executing on‑campus events and workshops. Perform other related duties as assigned. All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards. Qualifications Relevant coursework or job experience related to the healthcare field. Familiarity with healthcare placement tests such as TEAS and NCLEX. Some college credit and/or a degree in progress. Demonstrated expertise in one or more key subject areas. Ability to assist students in courses beyond major subject specializations. Flexible work schedule and ability to travel to all Lake County campus sites. Excellent communication skills with students and staff from diverse backgrounds. Strong responsibility, reliability, punctuality, and initiative. Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office products. Ability to use Zoom for virtual tutoring and staff training meetings.
