Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) - LTAC

This PTA role in a long-term acute care setting supports patient rehabilitation under the supervision of a Physical Therapist, focusing on functional recovery and discharge planning.

Care occurs in a skilled nursing or LTAC environment with variable acuity and a need for ongoing progress documentation and coordination with the rehab team.

Responsibilities

• Support PT evaluation and treatment plans by implementing therapeutic exercises and modalities under supervision.
• Monitor patient response to therapy and report changes to the supervising PT.
• Assist with mobility training, transfers, and activities of daily living training.
• Document therapy interventions and progress in the patient record; communicate goals and outcomes to the care team.
• Coordinate with nursing and therapy staff to optimize discharge planning and functional gains.

Qualifications

Education:

Associate degree from CAPTE-accredited PTA program; licensed or registered as required by state.

Licensure:

State PTA license or registration as required by state.

Certifications:

• CPR/BLS

Experience or Skills:

Experience in LTAC or inpatient rehab settings; ability to implement PT plans and document progress accurately.

Experience

• 1-3 years as a PTA in inpatient rehab or LTAC
• Experience working with multidisciplinary rehab teams

Preferred

• Experience with wound care or orthopedic rehab

Work Environment

LTAC unit with skilled rehab focus; variable patient acuity and pace; documentation in EHR and regular collaboration with PTs and nurses.
