About the Position

Job Title: Ultrasound Technician Profession: Ultrasound Technician Specialty: Ultrasound Technician Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 04:30 PM - 12:30 AM Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: Minimum of 1 year License: Must be licensed as per state requirements Certifications: ARDMS certification required Must-Have: - Graduation from an AMA accredited Ultrasound Program - Minimum of 12 months full-time clinical ultrasound experience Description: Performs various ultrasound studies including abdomen, OB/GYN, pediatrics, basic vascular, and small parts. May perform interventional procedures. Ensures two points of patient identification are obtained, and that patients are properly prepared. Obtains relevant patient history and reviews the patient's chart for pertinent clinical history, test results, and laboratory data. Explains the exam to patients, taking into consideration their physical and emotional needs while maintaining ethical standards. Delivers patient care under the scope of practice as per their license and training. Utilizes universal precautions and safety techniques specific to the patient's status. Demonstrates knowledge in the operation of all required equipment. Notifies appropriate personnel of equipment malfunctions and repairs needed. Rotates within the department and all off-site clinics as required. Cooperates with all personnel to promote harmony within the department. Maintains effective working relationships and communication with departmental personnel. Executes paperwork, PACS, RIS, and reporting functions necessary for each patient exam. Prepares the equipment, room, and supplies for each patient and regular daily use. Stocks and supplies the room and general department area as needed. Stays up to date on developments and trends in imaging techniques, procedures, and equipment. Participates in educational programs and meets state and national requirements for continuing education credits. Transports and transfers patients using established procedures according to departmental guidelines. Exercises independent judgment and initiative under pressure in a variety of situations while performing patient exams. Performs all other duties as directed.
