Admissions Counselor The Admissions Counselor plays an integral role in counseling and assisting prospective students and their families in the college admissions process. In addition to daily office operations, the role includes extensive travel, group and individual presentations, and evaluation and selection of applicants. Job Summary As a full‑time position, the Admissions Counselor carries out daily operations of the Office of Admissions and manages a designated territory. The role requires 8‑10 weeks of in‑person travel to various parts of the United States each year, with possible weekend and evening work during fall and spring recruiting seasons. Key Responsibilities Territory Management: Serve as the first point of contact for prospective families, maintain relationships throughout the admissions cycle, and coordinate recruitment activities such as receptions and phone‑a‑thons. Prepare and maintain territory management reports. Virtual and In‑person Recruitment: Plan and execute travel itineraries, host high‑school visits, college fairs, and virtual events, and assist in recruiting programming. Application Review: Read and evaluate applications from late November to mid‑March, maintaining confidentiality and sound judgment. Relationship Management: Build relationships with high‑school counselors, community organizations, educational consultants, and alumni; maintain open communication during the application review process. Public Relations: Conduct group and individual information sessions; assist with campus tours and front‑desk duties at the Hartness Admissions Center. Other Duties: Perform additional job‑related tasks as assigned. Qualifications and Requirements Bachelor’s degree required. Valid U.S. driver’s license required. Bilingual skills desirable. Strong public speaking, interpersonal, and written communication skills. Ability to manage time, stay organized, and correspond promptly with various constituencies. Self‑motivated, solution‑oriented, and able to work independently or with a team. Strong organizational skills and dependability. Work Conditions Work is largely performed under typical office conditions but requires in‑person interaction with the student‑facing admissions office. Possible evening and weekend work during fall and spring recruiting seasons. Occasional work-from-home opportunities are permitted at certain times throughout the year.
