Financial Advisory - Business Development Specialist

The Business Development Specialist supports the firm’s prospect pipeline across Madison, Minneapolis, and Milwaukee from a base in Madison. The role carries the outreach, follow-up, scheduling, and pipeline records that turn referrals, campaigns, and events into Initial Discovery Meetings for advisors, and it builds its own relationships with prospects and centers of influence in all three markets. The Business Development Director sets the seat’s priorities and owns the firm-wide pipeline. Advisors own the close and the client relationship that follows. The seat is measured on the weekly business development scorecard and carries no supervisory responsibility

What You’ll Do:

Outreach and Lead Development

• Conduct consistent outreach to leads and prospects through calls, email, LinkedIn, and personal notes, in line with the firm’s weekly activity targets.

• Research each lead before first contact, including the referral source, professional background, and community connections, and record the findings in the CRM.

• Qualify leads against the firm’s ideal client profile, including the $1 million investable asset minimum, before a discovery meeting is requested.

• Extend Initial Discovery Meeting invitations, schedule meetings on advisor calendars, and brief the receiving advisor on the prospect’s situation and what prompted the conversation.

Pipeline Administration:

• Keep stage, source, and next action current in the CRM for every lead and prospect assigned to the seat, using the stage definitions and exit criteria in the firm’s pipeline plan.

• Maintain the follow-up cadence for long-term leads through scheduled check-ins, campaigns, and event invitations.

• Track each new relationship through onboarding and confirm the handoff to the advisor and service team.

• Prepare the weekly business development scorecard and pipeline reports for the Business Development Director, and flag where activity is falling short of target.

Relationships and Referrals:

• Build relationships with prospects and centers of influence in all three markets, including CPAs, attorneys, bankers, and business consultants, through one-on-one and networking meetings.

• Request and track introductions from clients and referral sources, and route each to the right advisor.

Events and Campaign Follow-Through:

• Coordinate prospect-facing events, seminars, and webinars, from invitations through logistics.

• Follow up with event attendees and campaign respondents promptly and convert their interest into scheduled meetings.

• Represent the firm at community and association events and support prospect events in all three markets.

What You Bring:

• Experience supporting advisors, financial planners, wealth management teams, or professional services organizations.
• Familiarity with prospecting high-net-worth individuals and qualifying clients against established investment or asset criteria.
• Experience coordinating events, seminars, webinars, or marketing campaigns and converting attendee engagement into business opportunities.
• Knowledge of referral-based business development strategies and working with centers of influence such as CPAs, attorneys, bankers, and business consultants.
• Experience creating activity reports, scorecards, and performance metrics for leadership review.
