THIS POSITION IS WORKING 6:00 pm TO 2:00 am.

DEFINITION

The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) ensures that consumers follow the agency’s rules and regulations and ensures that the approved treatment activities are carried out.  The BHT also assists the nursing and treatment staff in monitoring, treatment, care, and transportation of consumers.

DUTIES

1.        Conduct POE for consumers coming into the BHCC.

2.        Orient consumers to the BHCC.

3.        Maintain and display appropriate ethical boundaries with consumers at all times.

4.        Monitor and document consumer behavior while on agency property or while engaged in an agency activity to ensure compliance with BHCC rules.

5.        Report to the Team Lead or Crisis Director if rules are broken.

6.        Monitor consumer’s self-administration of medications within the compliance of the BHCC, CARF, and DMH regulations.

7.        Document in consumer’s records in accordance with tasks preformed or observed and in accordance with agency policies and procedures.

8.        Monitor consumer participation in structured activities as assigned.

9.        Display and maintain an understanding of mandatory reporting responsibilities.

10.     Maintain cleanliness and sanitary conditions of the BHCC as necessary and scheduled.

11.     Make referrals to other agencies in accordance with agency policies and procedures.

12.     Transport consumers as needed.

13.     Attend in-service and staff meetings.

14.     Maintain current certification in CPR and First Aid.

15.     Maintain consumer confidentiality.

16.     Perform related work as requested to carry out purposes, goals, and objectives of the agency.

QUALIFICATIONS

High school graduate/GED certificate.  Class “E” chauffeur's license, automobile and required liability insurance.  Willingness to work flexible hours during the week and on the weekend.  Special interest and skills working with chronic mentally ill individuals.  Integrity, honesty, openness, ability to cooperate, high degree of initiative and self-confidence.  Ability to relate to a variety of professionals and the general public.  Capacity to be empathetic and objective.
