  • Perform and oversee site inspections, scene documentation, and evidence collection
  • Analyze slip, trip, and fall incidents and develop technical opinions regarding causation and liability
  • Conduct walkway friction testing and slip resistance evaluations
  • Research and apply relevant building codes, safety regulations, standards, ordinances, and industry best practices
  • Utilize 3D scanning, photogrammetry, and other forensic technologies to document and analyze incident locations
  • Perform hazard identification and risk assessments
  • Conduct human factors evaluations and accident reconstruction analyses when applicable
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and expert witness materials
  • Provide deposition and trial testimony as an expert witness
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across engineering, biomechanics, safety, and forensic disciplines
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through exceptional service and technical expertise
  • Deliver presentations, educational seminars, and thought leadership content to clients and industry groups
  • Support business development initiatives through networking, marketing, and industry involvement
  • Contribute to the growth of YA Group's forensic consulting practice

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Biomechanics, Safety Sciences, Human Factors, Occupational Safety, or a related technical discipline
  • 4+ years of experience conducting premises liability investigations, forensic consulting, safety analysis, accident reconstruction, or related work
  • Experience evaluating building codes, regulations, ordinances, standards, and safety practices
  • Experience conducting slip, trip, and fall investigations and developing technical opinions regarding causation and liability
  • Experience with walkway friction testing and slip resistance evaluations
  • Experience conducting hazard identification, risk assessments, and human factors analyses
  • Experience utilizing 3D scanning, photogrammetry, or similar forensic documentation technologies
  • Experience preparing expert reports and communicating technical findings to attorneys, insurance carriers, clients, and other stakeholders
  • Prior deposition and/or trial testimony experience
  • Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and client-facing communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to present to clients, industry organizations, and referral sources
  • Established relationships within the legal, insurance, risk management, engineering, or forensic consulting industries
  • Proven history of business development, client retention, and consulting practice growth
  • Existing book of business or transferable client relationships
  • Self-starter with the ability to independently manage projects, clients, and business development activities
  • Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.), or other relevant professional credential strongly preferred
