About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA) Must-Have: Med/Surg experience Description: Hiring process includes profile review and an interview with the unit manager. RNs may be required to float as needed based on unit demands. Please note, a minimum of six weekend shifts per six-week schedule is expected. The nurse to patient ratios on the unit are 1:5. Required certifications include BLS and ACLS. Common diagnoses consist of congestive heart failure, hypertension, and chest pain work-ups. The unit also sees COPD exacerbations, asthma, pneumonia, pancreatitis, bowel obstructions, gastrointestinal bleeding, and acute renal failure. RNs are required to titrate drips. Common titratable drips include analgesics, anticoagulants, and antihypertensives. There are remote telemonitoring services available. Charge nurses do take an assignment. There are nurse aides present within the unit with a ratio of 1:8. Respiratory equipment in use includes CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow vents. Self-scheduling and block scheduling are allowed for shifts. Floating requirements are determined based on departmental needs. Scrub color is navy blue and provided scrubs are available. Holiday requirements are applicable. Cancellation policy allows for the cancellation of shifts based on assignment length. Charting is conducted through the EPIC system.
