JOB OVERVIEW Job Title: Emergency Medicine Physician Job Type: Locum Tenens Location: Chalmette, LA Service Setting: Hospital Coverage Type: Clinical Only Coverage Period: April 30, 2026 Ongoing Clinical Shift Schedule: Flexible shifts including 7:00 AM 7:00 PM, 2:00 PM 12:00 AM, 7:00 PM 7:00 AM COVERAGE DATES April 30, 2026 Ongoing 1012 shifts per month Minimum 35 shifts per block required PATIENT INFORMATION Patient Demographics: Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics Patient Volume/Census: Approximately 79 patients per day (28,415 annual volume) Admissions: Yes (8.7% admission rate) Case Mix: Emergency Medicine with diverse acuity FACILITY INFORMATION No. of Beds in Department: 10 ED beds EMR System: Ochsner Epic Office Equipment Available: Standard Emergency Department equipment Specialty Backup Available: Cardiology, Endocrinology, Pulmonary, Urology, Gastroenterology, ICU, Orthopedics, Psychiatry, Radiology, General Surgery Support Staff Available: APP coverage (12-hour shifts) PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE Hospital Privileges Required: Yes Temporary Privileges Available: Yes (expedited for clean files) Credentialing Timeline: 3060 days COMPENSATION & BENEFITS Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: Covered REQUIRED PROCEDURES Emergency patient evaluation and management Acute care stabilization Interpretation of diagnostic studies JOB REQUIREMENTS Licenses: Active LA license required Board: BC/BE in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, or Internal Medicine DEA: Required Certifications: ACLS, ATLS, PALS required if not ABEM certified Experience: Residency trained required Other Qualifications: Willingness to work both day and night shifts DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Provide emergency medical care to patients across varying acuity levels Manage patient flow and coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams Perform assessments, diagnoses, and treatment plans Collaborate with support staff and specialists Ensure accurate documentation and adherence to facility protocols
