Director of Sales & Marketing

The Director of Sales & Marketing will report to the General Manager of the Shreveport Convention Center and Municipal Auditorium. This position is exempt and salaried.

The Director of Sales & Marketing will be responsible for hiring, training, and supervising sales staff. They will also provide support to Sales Managers and other departments, develop sales contracts, and monitor compliance. The Director will prepare marketing and sales plans, statistics, reports, and budget presentations for the General Manager. They will represent the facility at industry-related trade shows, create and present bid presentations, and manage the marketing budget and media placement. The Director will ensure successful event coordination, research and recommend equipment and supplies, and coordinate with vendors for service needs. They will maintain a positive image and generate positive public relations, work extended hours as needed, and meet with potential clients to advise on facility requirements and negotiate sales of additional services. The Director will prepare the annual budget for the department and perform all other duties as assigned.

The Director must be 18 years of age or older, have excellent customer service skills, and be able to pass a background check to include a credit history report and meet corporate minimum requirements.

The Director will directly supervise the Sales and Marketing Department, carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with LEGENDS GLOBAL policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees in conjunction with Human Resources; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

The Director should have a B.S. in Hotel Management or related field and 1-3 years of supervisory experience desired. Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills are required, along with the ability to effectively supervise staff, prioritize multiple projects, and have high aptitude for figures and advanced writing skills. Professional presentation, appearance, and work ethic are also necessary. Mastery knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is required.

The Director should have the ability to adjust work schedule to coincide with events, ability to travel extensively (air and auto required), and ability to work irregular hours and some holidays in addition to normal business hours.
