Nurse Manager Behavioral Services

SUMMARY: The Behavioral Services Unit Manager is directly responsible for the day to day operations of the behavioral services units. They provide supervision and support for nursing and ancillary services and display advanced clinical skill sets to act as a role model and resource for behavioral services personnel.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Accomplish nurse human resource objectives by selecting, orienting, educating, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining staff; communicating job expectations, adhere to policies and procedures.
• Fosters an environment that promotes a spirit of inquiry and continuous quality improvement. Assists in the design and implementation of programs which evaluate the efficacy of treatment.
• Monitor and assure the compliance with accrediting and regulatory agencies.
• Promote, monitor and implement the concepts of quality management and evidence based practice. Monitor service areas, recommend approaches for improvement activities, design new processes, collect and measure data, review and report performance over time, improve and redesign processes based on the evaluation and reassess continuously.
• Provide programmatic leadership of the clinical component of assigned areas to ensure quality patient care outcomes.
• Develop implement goals, standards, policies, educational programs, procedures and practices of clinical care in alignment with strategic plan.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
• A Master's degree preferred (MSN, MBA, MHA, or leadership focused)
• RN License in the State of New York
• 2 years of experience in specialty area.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Previous nurse manager or assistant nurse manager experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Repetitive use of hands and fingers (e.g., Use of computer keyboard); may require lifting and carrying light loads (up to 40 pounds), including boxes, equipment, IV solutions and stooping and kneeling (e.g., to pick up items from the floor, to remove and replace items on lower shelves and to file documents in lower file drawers); sitting, walking, or standing for long periods of time may be necessary; must be able physically to operate the equipment used for the job.

LOCATION AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

• Onsite at Cayuga Medical Center

Pay Rate $94,993.60 to $129,583.68 Annual
