Headquartered in Dallas, Texas, UNION is dedicated to restoring America's industrial strength and guaranteeing deterrence for the century ahead.As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer your primary responsibility will be to take ownership of one or more manufacturing cells and manage that cells manufacturing process from beginning to end. Taking a hands-on approach, a successful Senior Manufacturing Engineer will monitor production and testing, assist in troubleshooting manufacturing issues, and drive continuous improvement efforts throughout the process.Responsibilities:Develop manufacturing methods and process drawings using standard GD&T practices and technical work instructionsMUST have metal working experienceMaintain revision control and revision changes for manufacturing process drawingsReview and approve manufacturing drawings for correct GD&T and accuracyAbility to read and understand technical engineering drawings, specifications, and customer flow down requirementsSupport the research, design, and selection of tooling, fixturing, and gauging to be used in the manufacturing processInvestigate and determine root cause using 8D and 5 why methodsProvide technical guidance in the disposition of non-conformancesInterpret inspection data during development phases and provide guidanceSupport commercial quote activity by assessing technical feasibility and providing engineering calculationsProvide additional support to the engineering department as neededOther duties as assignedSkills and Preferred Knowledge:Knowledge of metalsKnowledge of Non-Destructive Testing including Magnetic Particle, Pressure Testing, and Dye PenetrantKnowledge of Mechanical Testing including Tensile Test, Hardness Test, Ultrasonic Test, Magnetic Particle TestHaving a hands-on approach with assembly of designs and fixturingKnowledge of Lean Manufacturing principlesAbility to use basic inspection tools such as micrometers, caliper, and dial indicatorsExcellent interpersonal, written, organizational and verbal communication skillsAbility to multitask with a focus on time management to meet schedulesA high attention to detail with a mechanical aptitudeProficiency using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Project)Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent fieldMinimum 8 years of engineering experience, preferably within a manufacturing environmentExperience with AS9100Strong experience in process drawings and GD&T per ASME Y14.5 standardsPhysical Demands:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
