Staff Accountant

R.C. Moore, Inc., a leading 3PL company involved in Trucking, warehousing, and Brokerage, is seeking a full-time Staff Accountant to join our dynamic team at our Portland, ME location. Established in 1956, we became 100% employee-owned (ESOP)in 2022. We provide a national third-party logistics network to support our various food and beverage providers, and we are passionate about delivering exceptional, timely service to all customers. POSITION OVERVIEW The Staff Accountant supports daily accounting operations, including financial reporting, account reconciliations, and accounting activities related to owned, leased, and rented motor vehicle equipment. This role requires a detail-oriented and analytical professional who can work independently and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Maintain accurate financial records and perform daily accounting activities. Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end and year-end closings. Reconcile bank accounts, general ledger accounts, and other financial records. Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions. Assist with financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis. Research and resolve accounting discrepancies. Maintain organized accounting documentation and records. Support internal and external audits. Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards. Collaborate with management and other departments on accounting matters. Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned. EDUCATION Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience. REQUIRED SKILLS Knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Commitment to ongoing professional development. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 2+ years of accounting experience. Experience with general ledger accounting and account reconciliations. Familiarity with NetSuite or other ERP/accounting software. Experience supporting month-end close and financial reporting.
