CNC Machinist II (Aerospace) ️

Johnson Service Group (JSG) is seeking a CNC Machinist II with 2–5 years of experience working in an aerospace environment. This is a Temp-to-Direct opportunity in the San Fernando Valley, CA area, working for a premier aircraft company.

• Pay Frequency: Weekly Pay
• ⏰ Shifts Available:
• • 1st Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
  • 2nd Shift: 3:30 PM – 12:00 AM
  • Note: Typically requires the ability to work weekends, alternate shifts, and overtime.

What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities)

As a CNC Machinist II, you will operate and set up equipment in a high-pressure, fast-paced, quality-oriented environment, while also mentoring junior team members. Your core duties will include:

• Training & Leadership: Train Level I and II operators on running and setting offsets for CNC machines, gear cutters, and manual machines.
• Machine Setup & Operation: Set up and operate a variety of CNC machines (lathes, mills, and mill turns). Stay familiar with and maintain ITT Quick change setup software and quick change tooling.
• Process Improvement: Actively contribute ideas for continuous improvement regarding setups and machining processes.
• Monitoring & Maintenance: Watch machine gauges, dials, and indicators to ensure optimal alignment and performance. Keep the work area clean, wipe down equipment daily, and organize setup tooling into the correct holders.

What We Look For (Qualifications)

Requirements & Technical Skills:

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of CNC machine shop experience as an operating machinist. 2–5 years of experience in an Aerospace environment is highly preferred.
• Education: High School diploma, GED, or trade school certification.
• Precision Machining: Ability to work within tight tolerances of .0002" . Complete knowledge of machine measuring equipment and its proper use.
• Math & Reasoning: Strong understanding of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and statistics (must pass the Level II shop math test). Critical thinking and logic skills are required for problem-solving.
• Communication & Collaboration: Ability to read, write, and understand English, follow verbal/written instructions, and practice active listening and coordination within a team.
• Software: General computer experience is required.
• Preferences: Lean experience in setups and mistake-proofing is preferred.

Physical & Environmental Requirements:

• Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and reach.
• Ability to lift 35 lbs frequently and up to 50 lbs as needed.
• Specific vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
• Must wear all required safety equipment (safety shoes and glasses) in an industrial environment with daily exposure to dust, fumes, and metal chips.
