Description

American Traveler seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist for a Level I trauma OR position requiring at least 1 year of Level I trauma experience and strong neuro/trauma skills.

Details

• Level I Trauma Center OR setting including Ambulatory OR, General OR, and Trauma OR
• Day shift schedule of 4x10 hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM
• Neuro call requirement of 90-120 hours every 6 weeks
• Handles trauma cases including amputations, gunshot/stab wounds, and multi-injury MVAs
• Skill sets include neuro spine, craniotomy, VP shunt, PV/AAA, thrombectomies, urology, general, GYN, laparoscopic, ENT, plastics, and oral max procedures
• Uses Da Vinci Xi Surgical System and case cart/crash cart equipment
• Cerner charting experience preferred
• 100% floating required within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital

Requirements

• BLS certification required
• NBSTSA Certified Surgical Technologist credential required
• Minimum 2 years of surgical technology experience required
• At least 1 year of Level I Trauma experience required (hardstop requirement)
• Must have skill level 3 or 4 in Neuro and Trauma
• Trauma Level I experience required
• Skills required in vascular, neuro surgery, and trauma procedures including AAA repair, craniotomy, VP shunt insertion, laminectomy/discectomy, and spinal fusion procedures
• License required if applicable
• 2 supervisor references required
• SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

• Perform instrument processing and reprocessing of trauma instruments/trays
• Assist with a wide range of surgical procedures including vascular, neuro, trauma, urology, general, GYN, and laparoscopic cases
• Support cases performed with the Da Vinci Xi Surgical System
• First-time travelers are considered for this position
• Candidates must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• RTO of 5 days or less can be auto-approved; additional time off requires facility approval
• Local candidates residing in Indiana are accepted at a lower pay package
• Past IU Health perm or PRN employees must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler
• Current or past IU Health travelers with 12 months of travel employment must take a designated break to reset eligibility
