We seek visionary leaders who thrive in dynamic, entrepreneurial settings, and excel in autonomous roles.What You'll DoRisk Evaluation & Decision-MakingEvaluate and make underwriting decisions on commercial P&C submissions primarily BOP, with exposure to GL, Commercial Property, and Commercial AutoApply MGT's underwriting guidelines to assess risk quality, class eligibility, coverage structure, and pricing appropriatenessIdentify risks that fall outside standard appetite and escalate referrals with a clear, well-reasoned recommendationReview renewal accounts for changes in risk profile, loss history, and continued eligibilityManage an active book of business with accuracy, speed, and appropriate documentationBroker & Distribution SupportRespond to broker submissions, coverage questions, and quote requests in a timely and professional mannerBuild and maintain productive working relationships with MGT's appointed broker and wholesale partnersCommunicate underwriting decisions clearly — including declinations — with reasoning that helps brokers understand MGT's appetiteSupport Distribution in onboarding new agents and answering appetite and eligibility questionsUnderwriting Quality & Continuous ImprovementMaintain high underwriting quality: accurate documentation, consistent application of guidelines, and defensible decision rationaleParticipate in file reviews, underwriting audits, and team calibration sessionsFlag patterns or edge cases that suggest guideline gaps or appetite questions — and bring them to the Underwriting LeadEngage actively with MGT's technology platform including Athena AI underwriting agent, policy admin system, and quoting tools as a core part of the daily workflowLearning & DevelopmentBuild technical depth across MGT's lines of business through mentorship, file review, and direct exposure to complex risksParticipate in underwriting training, coverage education, and team knowledge-sharing sessionsWork toward broader underwriting authority and expanded responsibility over timeWhat We're Looking For3–6 years of commercial P&C underwriting experienceCarrier or MGA underwriting, small commercial or BOP experience strongly preferredSolid foundation in commercial P&C underwriting including BOP structure, class eligibility, basic coverage components, and risk assessment fundamentalsExperience working within underwriting guidelines and referral frameworks in a carrier or MGA environmentComfort managing a book of submissions with accuracy and appropriate prioritizationFamiliarity with ISO forms and standard policy language a strong plusExposure to broker/agent distribution and the dynamics of a quote-and-bind platform helpfulOpenness to working in a technology-forward environment with AI-assisted tools and modern systemsTraits We ValueTechnically curious.
