Family Medicine Associates of North Stafford is seeking an experienced, dependable, and detail-oriented Medical Billing Assistant to join our primary care practice.

We are looking for someone who understands the medical billing process, takes ownership of outstanding claims and accounts, and can work effectively with both our clinical and front-office teams.

This is a full-time position with flexible hours, competitive pay and an immediate opening.

Key Responsibilities

• Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits
• Review claims for accuracy and completeness
• Post patient payments
• Follow up on unpaid, rejected, and denied claims
• Investigate claim denials and assist with corrections and resubmissions
• Review accounts receivable and identify outstanding balances
• Communicate with our third party billing company regarding claim and payment issues
• Assist with patient billing questions and account inquiries
• Maintain accurate patient insurance and demographic information
• Review EOBs and insurance payment information
• Identify billing discrepancies and communicate issues to the appropriate staff
• Assist with coding and documentation review when needed
• Work with the practice's billing team to improve collections and reduce outstanding accounts
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and protect patient confidentiality
• Perform other billing and administrative duties as needed
• Assist the front desk staff with administrative duties when necessary

Qualifications

Required:

• Previous experience in medical billing, preferably in a physician office or primary-care setting
• Knowledge of commercial insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid billing
• Strong understanding of the medical claims process
• Excellent attention to detail
• Strong organizational and follow-up skills
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
• Professional communication skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements

Preferred:

• Experience with CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS coding
• Experience handling insurance denials and appeals
• Experience with electronic health records and practice-management systems
• Experience with accounts receivable and aging reports
• Experience in family medicine or primary care

We are located in the Aquia Park Professional Centre on Route 1, with close proximity to the I95.
