FT Assistant Manager Customer Service

Overview Hannaford Supermarkets started out as a fresh produce vendor in Portland, Maine, in 1883 and remains connected to local sourcing through our Local program, supporting farmers, producers, and local jobs. Hannaford was the first major U.S. supermarket to document that all its seafood products were sustainably harvested. Responsibilities Ensure department associates are properly trained by certified trainers. Maintain clear communication within the department, store, and organization via the Cash Office/Front End Communication Board and Task Management. Observe and ensure compliance with sanitation, safety, and food safety standards. Follow all company policies and procedures; support and comply with all safety standards. Report needed equipment repairs or maintenance; keep work areas free of debris and hazards. Handle all sales transactions and media accepted by the store in accordance with company policies and legal requirements. Supervise the operation of the office/service desk/kiosk/front end/bottle room (if applicable) to ensure cleanliness, customer service, and accurate transactions. Secure office and front-end cash drawers when unattended; protect company assets at all times. Understand labor and productivity reports, scheduling, and ordering. Follow Front End department standard practices to ensure efficient operations. Assist in performance appraisals and service observations in line with company standards. Maintain a neat, well-groomed appearance and follow personal appearance policy. Perform cashier and/or bagging functions as needed; assist with service desk/kiosk and bookkeeper duties as required. Assist in special projects and other duties as assigned by supervisor. Qualifications High school graduate or equivalent preferred. Strong understanding of store operations and merchandising techniques preferred. Effective communication, customer service, and selling skills. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills; ability to lead and manage a team. Willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job. Strong problem solving skills; must meet minimum age requirements. Physical Requirements Ability to use computers and other communication systems; perform all job functions. Perform repetitive hand and arm motions; bend and lift products up to 15 lbs. continuously, 25 lbs. frequently, and 50 lbs. on occasion. Pull or push up to 75 lbs. on occasion. Handle various cleaning and packaging substances, fresh produce, plants, and household cleaners. Stand 100% of the time with occasional walking short distances. Use hands to handle currency and operate equipment such as cash registers and scanners. Lift and carry up to 15 lbs. occasionally; reach and grasp at various levels. Meet established volume activity standards and have sufficient visual activity to check IDs and documents. Preferred Requirements Promote customer goodwill through high standards of service; treat associates with fairness and respect. Assist in managing Front End operations and work schedules to maintain customer service standards. Fully utilize training materials to train and develop associates; maintain yearly certifications. Exercise good judgment in delegation and follow-up for department efficiency. Supervise Front End duties and assist in ensuring compliance with anti-money laundering regulations and training. Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations. Salary range is between $18.95 - $27.25 per hour.
