Job Summary: Anderson, Indiana Step Down Registered Nurse (Progressive Care/Med-Tele) provides specialized nursing care to patients who require close monitoring and frequent assessment but do not meet criteria for intensive care. The role focuses on delivering safe, high-quality, patient-centered care while collaborating with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to manage complex clinical needs. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Days shift, 12 hours per shift, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Registered Nursing (RN) license; ability to monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms; ability to administer medications safely (including IV medications) per physician orders and facility policy; ability to perform comprehensive patient assessments (respiratory, cardiovascular, neurological, and hemodynamic status); ability to accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in an electronic medical record (EMR); commitment to infection prevention protocols, fall precautions, and patient safety standards; certification requirements as specified by the facility.
• Preferred Qualifications: Strong critical thinking skills and clinical judgment to manage complex patient conditions in a fast-paced environment.
• Additional Information:
  • Provides direct patient care for medically complex patients requiring telemetry, frequent monitoring, and specialized interventions.
  • Monitors vital signs and laboratory results, and notifies providers of changes in patient condition.
  • Manages care for patients with devices such as telemetry monitoring, IV drips (e.g., cardiac, vasoactive, or insulin infusions where applicable), central lines, PICC lines, oxygen therapy (including high-flow oxygen), and CPAP/BiPAP (as appropriate per unit policy).
  • Implements and evaluates individualized patient care plans.
  • Collaborates with physicians and other disciplines (including respiratory therapy, physical therapy, and case management) to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Educates patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment plan, medications, and discharge instructions.
  • Recognizes early signs of patient deterioration and activates rapid response or escalates care as needed.
  • May float to other med/surg units.
