THE POSITION
As a Maintenance Repairman 2 with the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, you will take on important work that supports the daily operation of Codorus State Park. This role provides varied, meaningful tasks in several skilled trades. You will help build, repair, and maintain the spaces that visitors enjoy. This position is a great fit for someone who enjoys active, hands-on work.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position carries out skilled work in multiple trades to maintain and improve the buildings, grounds, and equipment at Codorus State Park. The role ensures that park facilities remain safe, functional, and well cared for. As a Maintenance Repairman 2, you will perform the following duties:

  • Skilled Trades Work: Perform carpentry, electrical, plumbing, masonry, and welding tasks throughout the park
  • Equipment Operation: Operate light and heavy equipment such as vehicles, mowers, and snow removal tools
  • Facility Maintenance: Repair and maintain buildings, walkways, signs, and other park structures
  • Grounds Care: Maintain turf, trees, trails, and landscaped areas across park grounds
  • Safety Practices: Follow safe work procedures and keep work areas clean and organized

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Seasonal full-time employment, typically works about 8 months per year.
  • This position does not provide health care benefits, nor the option to buy into group health care benefits.
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with a 30-minute lunch. Days will vary. Position will work five days per week, 37.5 hours weekly, for seven-day operation. Must be available weekends and holidays.
  • This position may work evenings, weekends, and holidays as workload and emergency situations warrant.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.
Special Requirements:
  • This position requires possession of a valid Class C Driver's License.
Other Requirements:
  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

WORK BEHAVIOR - FLOORING Performs flooring tasks by installing, repairing, or removing carpet, tile, hardwood, vinyl tiles, vinyl sheets, engineered tile, or laminate by using a wood and laminate cutter, floor nailer or stapler, laminate file, laminate or vinyl rollers, pull bar, tapping block, mallet, vinyl tile cutter, selvage and wall trimmers, carpet stretcher, seaming iron, seam cutter, floor scraper, or floor sander. Levels of Performance Select the Level of Performance that best describes your claim.
