Job Summary and Qualifications

The Registered Nurse in the ICU is responsible for coordinating and delivering high-quality, patient-focused care that aligns with departmental needs and adheres to state and specialty standards. Collaborating with medical professionals and the care team, the RN provides tailored, compassionate care using established nursing frameworks such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.” The RN acts as an advocate for patients, families, and caregivers, embodying the organization’s vision and values to enhance patient experiences and clinical outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Executing procedures and monitoring as directed by medical providers, ensuring timely and thorough documentation in patient records.
  • Educating patients, families, and caregivers about medical conditions, treatment plans, medications, potential side effects, and follow-up care, while simplifying complex medical terminology for better understanding.
  • Providing guidance on non-medical follow-up measures, including healthy lifestyle choices and disease prevention, to prepare patients and families for self-management.
  • Implementing evidence-based practices and continuous improvement initiatives to surpass quality standards and enhance patient care.
  • Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to develop, evaluate, and customize holistic treatment plans that support patient recovery.
Qualifications
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of starting employment.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of starting employment.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
