School Nurse SubstituteCurrent registration to practice professional nursing in Massachusetts CPR with AED certified by AHA or ARCReports to Director of School Health Services$200 per diem for days worked. Non-benefits eligible, at-will positionAccepts varying location assignments to support health services throughout school districtAssesses and evaluates students' health statusProvides primary and emergency health careAdministers medication in accordance with school policy and proceduresProvides relevant teaching, counseling, and guidance to assist students and parents in assuming responsibility for appropriate health careIdentifies students with special health care needs which affect learningInterprets student health needs to teachers and other school personnelEnters medical data into electronic health records on all studentsAssists screening programs for vision, hearing, growth and SBIRT, to include follow-up retestsConfirms student eligibility for sportsAssists in the prevention and control of communicable diseasesParticipates in the modification of the school program to meet the needs of children with disabilities and medical conditionsDevelops Individual Health Care Plans, Anaphylaxis Emergency Care Plans, Asthma Health Care Plans, and 504 plans as neededMay serve on Child Protection Team and acts as an advocate and consultant for children suspected of being abused or neglectedMaintains continuing education requirements for recertification by BORNExperience and commitment to working in a racially and culturally diverse teaching and learning communityApplicants for employment are considered without regard to age, disability, race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, national origin, or military status
