The Back of House Kitchen Team Member is responsible for supporting the preparation, organization, cleanliness, and daily operation of the kitchen and back-of-house areas at Boba Bliss. This position plays an important role in ensuring ingredients, toppings, and food items are prepared consistently, safely, and efficiently while maintaining Boba Bliss quality and cleanliness standards.

The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, fast-paced, detail-oriented, and able to work effectively as part of a team.

Key ResponsibilitiesFood & Ingredient Preparation

• Prepare ingredients, toppings, creams, and fruit items according to Boba Bliss recipes and standards.
• Follow proper portioning, preparation, and storage procedures.
• Ensure ingredients are properly labeled, dated, and stored.
• Maintain consistent quality and presentation of prepared ingredients.
• Monitor ingredient levels and communicate low-stock items to the Shift Lead or Manager.
• Assist with daily prep and production based on business needs.

Kitchen Operations

• Maintain an organized and efficient kitchen workspace.
• Follow proper FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures when handling ingredients.
• Keep prep areas, refrigerators, freezers, shelves, and storage areas organized.
• Assist with receiving and putting away deliveries when needed.
• Ensure all kitchen equipment and utensils are used properly.
• Communicate with Front of House and Barista teams regarding ingredient availability and preparation needs.

Cleanliness & Sanitation

• Maintain Boba Bliss cleanliness and sanitation standards throughout the shift.
• Wash, sanitize, and properly store dishes, utensils, containers, and kitchen equipment.
• Clean and sanitize food preparation surfaces regularly.
• Complete assigned cleaning duties, including floors, sinks, refrigerators, prep tables, and storage areas.
• Properly dispose of trash and food waste.
• Follow all required food safety and sanitation procedures.

Food Safety & Quality

• Follow safe food handling and temperature-control procedures.
• Maintain proper personal hygiene and handwashing practices.
• Prevent cross-contamination by following proper food handling procedures.
• Immediately report any food safety, equipment, or quality concerns to a Shift Lead or Manager.
• Follow all applicable company and health department food safety requirements.

Teamwork & Communication

• Work collaboratively with Back of House, Barista, Cashier, Shift Lead, and Management teams.
• Communicate clearly when prep items are running low or additional preparation is needed.
• Support other team members during busy periods when appropriate.
• Maintain a positive, respectful, and professional attitude.
• Be willing to assist with tasks outside of the kitchen when business needs require it.

Performance Expectations

A successful Back of House Kitchen Team Member is expected to:

• Arrive on time and ready to work.
• Follow recipes, preparation standards, and portion guidelines accurately.
• Complete assigned prep efficiently and consistently.
• Maintain a clean and organized workstation throughout the shift.
• Follow proper food safety and sanitation procedures at all times.
• Properly label, date, rotate, and store ingredients.
• Communicate effectively with Shift Leads and Managers.
• Stay productive during slower periods by completing cleaning, organization, and prep tasks.
• Take direction well and be receptive to coaching and feedback.
• Demonstrate reliability, accountability, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Previous restaurant, kitchen, food service, or boba shop experience is preferred but not required.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
• Ability to lift and carry food supplies and kitchen materials as needed.
• Strong attention to detail and cleanliness.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Must be able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to bend, reach, squat, and move throughout the kitchen.
• Ability to safely lift and carry supplies and equipment within reasonable workplace requirements.
• Ability to work around hot surfaces, kitchen equipment, water, and cleaning products while following safety procedures.
