Medical AssistantWe are located at 56 New Driftway (Suite 101) in Scituate, MA. As an Internal Medicine office, we offer a full range of primary care services – from routine check-ups and health screenings to complex diagnostic evaluation and treatment – for adult patients. With only 6 providers total, our small yet mighty team operates in a close-knit, supportive, and collaborative practice environment. Are you ready to bring your talent to this office and join us in moving community-based ambulatory care forward?We are seeking a 32-hour Medical Assistant to support our practice onsite Monday through Thursday from 9:00am-5:30pm.The role supports healthcare teams by assisting with both clinical and non-clinical patient services under the direction of healthcare providers. Key responsibilities include taking vital signs, documenting patient information, scheduling appointments, and managing patient flow. This role involves direct interaction with patients to ensure their comfort and address concerns, as well as collaboration with physicians, nurse practitioners, and nursing staff to facilitate efficient care.Essential Functions:Assists junior Medical Assistants with day-to-day questions and responsibilities and helps facilitate their learning by participating in onboarding training.Show patients to examination rooms, prepare necessary equipment for healthcare providers, and interview patients to obtain medical information, measure their vital signs, weight, and height, and record information in the patient's medical record.Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, and physician instructions to patients, ordering and organizing educational materials to reinforce patient education.Perform general office duties, such as answering phones, taking dictation, and completing insurance forms, while acting as a liaison with other departments and advocating for patients with a positive customer service approach.Collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log them, and prepare them for testing; perform phlebotomy if competence is demonstrated.Maintains inventory of immunizations and check expiration dates.Provides immunizations (as applicable) which requires certification or 3 years of experience administering a vaccine and supervision of a provider.Responsible for improving appropriate departmental quality initiatives, such as two patient identifiers and hand hygiene.Qualifications:Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required or Associate's Degree Medical Assisting preferred.Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree?
