Yard SupervisorThe Yard Supervisor is responsible for the overall oversight of the GEODIS trailer yards in ordinance with contractual regulations.Job Duties:Provide supervision and coordination of yard clerks and yard hostlersScheduling of personnel at various yardsWorks closely with operations and safety ensuring equipment is available and in working orderVerifying adherence to safety standards and yard procedures to include wheel chocking, glad hand lock application and jack standsWorks closely with security guards on yard communication and flowMaintaining and distributing an accurate yard inventory report of equipment pools at each yard by customer and carrierResponsible for the timely maintenance of all location equipmentTroubleshooting various issues as they arise with carriersSupervises, trains and implements best practices for all new hiresOther duties as required and assignedRequirements:High school diploma or GED (General Education Diploma) equivalencyBachelor's degree from a 4-year college or university preferredApproved Motor Vehicle RecordMinimum 3 years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experienceExperience with building and manipulating spreadsheets to report information to external and internal shareholdersPC literate with experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Access and ExcelExcellent written and oral communication skills that demonstrate a proven ability to develop relationships with a range of internal and external customersExcellent planning and organizational skillsAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manualAbility to write routine reports and correspondenceAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram formEnvironment:While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, and talk. The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
