Registered Nurse - Surgical Specialty

Schedule

This position is for a full-time schedule of 4 days per week, working 10 hours each day.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse will provide proficient and independent care to surgical patients across various specialties including Orthopedic, General, Podiatry, GYN/OB (including C Sections), Pain Management, Urology, and Endoscopy. The role requires effective application and documentation of the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate proficiency in nursing care and maintain clinical competency.
• Consult with staff, physicians, and management to meet patient needs.
• Support community service programs as requested.
• Exhibit strong communication skills and a positive attitude in interactions with patients, families, and colleagues.
• Adhere to medication administration standards and demonstrate effective time management skills.
• Act as a patient advocate, involving families in care and respecting confidentiality.
• Participate in departmental and hospital quality activities, respecting policies and procedures.
• Attend orientations and complete annual department competencies as required.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a related nursing specialty preferred.
• Current RN license in New Mexico, or a compact license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certifications required.
