Principal Software Engineer, iOS (Innovation Lab)

We’re looking for a Principal Engineer, iOS to join Procore’s Mobile Innovation team. In this role, you’ll have the unique opportunity to drive the next generation of field application platform initiatives in a global SaaS infrastructure. As a Principal Engineer, iOS you will be primarily responsible for working on cutting‑edge greenfield projects. You will establish the strategic technical direction, create reference patterns, and will be responsible for helping to actively drive the effective execution of that strategy across many Procore’s product areas. We are looking for native iOS experts who thrive at the intersection of mobile and AI. This role isn't just a "UI builder"—you are an engineer who understands how to handle low‑latency, high‑performance systems. This position reports to the Senior Director, Mobile Engineering with the opportunity to work hybrid from either our Austin, TX office or San Francisco, CA office. We’re looking for someone to join our team immediately. What you’ll do Hands‑on development and coding of architecture and systems that meet the test of time for a variety of wireless devices Mobile Architecture: Designing scalable and robust architectural solutions for Native iOS applications that align with industry best practices and standards. Technical Leadership: Providing technical leadership to cross‑functional teams of developers, guiding them in the implementation of mobile solutions and ensuring adherence to architectural guidelines. Technology Evaluation: Evaluating emerging mobile technologies, tools, and frameworks to recommend adoption where applicable and develop POCs hands‑on and rapid prototyping to bring new tech to life. Performance Optimization: Identifying and addressing performance bottlenecks and ensuring optimal mobile application performance across a variety of devices and platforms. Security: Implementing and enforcing security best practices to safeguard user data, privacy and application integrity. Collaboration: Collaborating closely with product managers, UI/UX designers, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions. Partnership: Collaborating with VPs, Directors, and stakeholders to understand strategic objectives and align technology solutions to business goals. Documentation: Creating and maintaining architectural documentation, including design specifications and system diagrams. Establishing and maintaining our overall technology strategy which supports and enables our multi‑year corporate and product strategies, and which embodies our P&T and Engineering Principles. Leverage generative tools and agentic workflows (Claude, Cursor, etc) to move faster and work smarter. What we’re looking for Masters Degree in Computer Science, a related field, or comparable work experience 15+ years experience in software engineering, Test‑Driven Development and Design principles for web and hybrid enterprise mobile applications for several mobile platforms (iOS/Android/Windows), Distributed Architectures Extensive hands‑on experience in designing and architecting Native iOS applications, with a deep understanding of their respective ecosystems. Deep technical expertise and mastery of mobile development languages such as Swift and a strong understanding of mobile app architecture patterns (e.g., MVC, MVVM, VIPER). In‑depth knowledge of microservices design patterns, including service decomposition, event‑driven architecture, and API gateway implementation Time‑honed expertise with modern SaaS across the entire lifecycle: development, testing, staging, deploying, and monitoring. Experience with voice synthesis, audio streaming, and building "lean" mobile experiences that handle complex backend orchestration. Domain experience with AI Note‑taking apps (e.g., Granola) Speech‑to‑text / LLM interfaces (e.g., Whisper Flow, Voibe etc) Real‑time communication (VoIP, Zoom, meeting productivity apps) Strong knowledge of mobile app security best practices, including data encryption, secure coding, and identity management. Demonstrated ability to influence and drive change within the organization, promoting innovation and continuous improvement. Proven track record of distilling ambiguity to clarity and direction Additional Information Base Pay Range 198,240.00 - 272,580.00 USD Annual This role may also be eligible for Equity Compensation and/or Bonus Incentive Compensation.
