Mobile Phlebotomist

Role The Mobile Phlebotomist, under the general supervision of the Phlebotomy Supervisor, works to provide clinical pre‑analytical laboratory services to our clients/patients in a mobile setting. They are responsible for completing their assigned routes safely and on time while following all policies and procedures. Tasks and Responsibilities Drive vehicle to client facilities, typically nursing homes, as directed by company dispatcher. Unload phlebotomy tray and collect samples ordered by physician at the patient’s bedside. Accurately identify patients before collecting specimens. Collect, label, process, and deliver specimens, ensuring proper specimen preservation. Reload equipment and all necessary specimens into the vehicle for prompt delivery. Communicate regularly with dispatcher to report status and location. Strictly adhere to Universal Precautions for controlling blood‑borne pathogens. Maintain required certifications, health and operational requirements. Keep work area clean and safe; report any unsafe conditions or complaints. Monitor supplies inventory, report low stock or out‑of‑stock situations, and identify expired supplies. Report all complaints and problems encountered. Accurately maintain time records of hours worked and deliver them to the company as directed. Manage assigned shift, including meal breaks. Create and update all required records per instructions. Use only approved current documents; make changes to records only per approved instructions. Provide on‑call coverage during evenings and weekends as needed, with irregular unscheduled overtime based on workload or absenteeism. Required Skills Excellent communication and interaction skills with pediatric and geriatric populations. Treat customers and patients with respect, dignity, and discretion; acknowledge residents’ rights and patients’ right to refuse. Demonstrate regular attendance. Current, valid state phlebotomy license (if required). Current, valid state driver’s license; car insurance; good driving record; possess a vehicle in good working condition suitable for daily driving requirements. Proficiency in venipuncture and skin puncture using both vacutainer and syringe techniques. Knowledge of laboratory operations. Maintain sterile, sanitary conditions to prevent contamination.
