General Purpose of Job/Summary:

We are seeking an detail-oriented Diagnostics Ophthalmic Technician to join our team.

Diagnostics Ophthalmic Technicians are a vital part of the patient experience by performing advanced ophthalmic testing. In this role, you’ll work alongside physicians and clinical staff to conduct diagnostic imaging and testing—while ensuring patients feel comfortable, informed, and respected throughout their visit.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide compassionate, respectful patient care that supports comfort and trust
• Assist physicians during patient exams, diagnostic testing, and in-office procedures
• Perform ophthalmic diagnostic testing including, but not limited to: Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), Visual Field Testing, Fundus Photography, and Fluorescein Angiographies
• Ensure high-quality image capture and accurate test results for physician use
• Prepare, clean, and sanitize exam rooms, instruments, and equipment between patients
• Accurately document patient information in the electronic medical record system
• Administer eye medications under physician direction for testing or treatment
• Help maintain efficient clinic flow so patients are seen in a timely and organized manner
• Communicate clearly with patients about follow-up care, procedures, and next steps
• Answer patient, pharmacy, and team member calls related to patient care
• Work collaboratively with team members across clinic locations to ensure continuity of care

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Current Phlebotomy Certification (required)
• Willingness and ability to travel to satellite clinic locations as needed
• Preferred (not required): Ophthalmic, medical assisting, or healthcare experience; Associate’s degree or higher; Familiarity with eye anatomy, conditions, or medications.

• Comfort using computers and learning new systems, including electronic medical records

• Ability to remain calm and compassionate in a fast-paced clinical environment

The work environment is a clean, climate-controlled medical office with moderate noise levels.
